Since 2008 – i.e. for 16 years now – ecostra GmbH has conducted an annual survey of international brand manufacturers who are tenants in outlet centres in Europe. Since 2012, this survey has been carried out in cooperation with the French research institute magdus. By now, the report is regarded to be "the" benchmark for the European outlet industry. The results are printed in detail in the so-called "Outlet Centre Performance Report Europe" (OCPRE), which can be obtained from the ecostra-Webshop.
Topping-out wreath hovers over first new building after flood.
Right on schedule: City Outlet Bad Münstereifel celebrates another milestone with topping-out ceremony.
Bad Münstereifel. Jürgen Dreßen had the full attention of his audience. The master carpenter of Hoffmann Bedachungen GmbH solemnly spoke the topping-out ceremony. Just as it has long been a good tradition. Another milestone has been reached in the extension of the City Outlet Bad Münstereifel in Trierer Straße. The topping-out wreath with its colourful ribbons proudly hovers above the new building, which is a real eye-catcher with its modern architecture. At the traditional topping-out ceremony on 5 October 2023 At the traditional topping-out ceremony on 5 October 2023, building owner Marc Brucherseifer together with Mayor Sabine Preiser-Marian and representatives of the architects' office as well as several companies involved in the construction celebrated the future of the completed building. Where recently there was still a car park, a complex with a total area of 1,430 square metres was erected after a construction period of just under 13 months. Of this, about 1,000 square metres are reserved for four new brand stores, each of which will have about 200 to 250 square metres of sales space. "We are right on schedule. I would like to thank every single person who has contributed to this project. Every nail, every plank, every move has contributed to this building being here. But we are not yet at the end of our journey. But an important step has been taken," explains Marc Brucherseifer, Managing Director of City Outlet Bad Münstereifel GmbH.
Next goal: Inauguration
After the laying of the foundation stone on 14 August 2022, the topping-out wreath marks the completion of the structural work and simultaneously heralds the start of the next phase. The work now continues with the installation of the shop windows and windows, while the technical building equipment inside will then be tackled in the following winter months. "I am very pleased and also proud that we were able to construct the first new building in Bad Münstereifel after the devastating flood disaster of July 2021. If everything continues to go according to plan, the building can be inaugurated in June 2024. That's when the next celebration will take place," says Marc Brucherseifer, looking ahead with confidence. In addition to the outlet shops, the new building will also house a parking deck with around 25 charging stations for e-vehicles, a penthouse flat and a training centre with several seminar rooms on the first floor. "I am pleased to see how well the developer, politicians and administration have once again worked together to move Bad Münstereifel forward. The new building will become an important element for the attractive southern entrance to the city," says Sabine Preiser- Marian.
Important building block for further development
The steadily increasing popularity among customers and the company's own striving for optimisation necessitated this new building, which is an important step towards the further development of the City Outlet. It has not yet been decided which brands will move in. Negotiations are in full swing. And the demand for potential tenants is high, reveals Centre Manager Matthias Dürr. "Nothing has been finalised yet, but there is still a lot of time before the space is handed over to the tenants. That probably won't happen before July 2024," Dürr explains and continues: "But I can already promise that our City Outlet will become even more interesting. The variety of shopping options available will not only be noticeably increased in the premium segment, but the attractiveness of the centre will also be significantly enhanced." Thus, work continues to be done constantly to ensure that the success story of Shopping World continues. Because the future doesn't just happen - it is shaped.
